Cats have been objects of interest to people around the world for a long time. They were first worshipped and domesticated in Egypt before they were bred and exported overseas, where they became trustworthy companions and widely admired.

Invented in the 17th century, door flap is still a much needed article to help cats circulate in and out of the house. The gifted inventor Nikola Tesla first wondered about electricity as a young child while petting his cat Macak. The repeated contact of his hand with the cat’s fur produced sparks, which led Tesla to make astonishing discoveries in the realm of mechanical and electrical engineering! People are easily entranced by a cat’s graceful gait, their hypnotic eyes and relaxing purr. You can even find cat fancier clubs just for cat lovers as well as salons and pet clothing lines that cater to your feline’s needs. Consumers not only love their pets, they also love to spend money on their pets and they like to buy specialty items–frontline for cats is an example. Cats may be lovely to look at but they are also very therapeutic and proffer health benefits to their owners and people who spend time with them. A study done in 2002 at the State University of New York (K, Allen, J. Blascovich, and W.B. Mendes) discovered that being exposed to a cat and petting a cat can significantly lower a person’s blood pressure. The article was titled “Cardiovascular reactivity and the presence of pets friends and spouses: the truth about cats and dogs” contains ample evidence and support that cats can indeed reduce stress and be beneficial to a cat owner’s health. Cats are extremely popular in North America because they are indoor animals that are low in maintenance. The American Veterinary Medical Association in 2007 stated that in the United States there are over 82 million felines being kept as pets. A cat that is an indoor cat only will have a significantly longer lifespan when compared with a cat who is allowed outdoors. Indoor cats will not be hit by a car, exposed to cat fights, and an indoor cat simply will not be exposed to the various diseases and bacteria that are endemic in the outdoor cat population. Whether or not you decide to let your cat out or keep your friend indoors at all times will depend upon your personal circumstances and is ultimately your decision. You must love and care for your cat. If you take someone in, you are responsible for them. Do not let them down. “Time spend with cats is never wasted” – Sigmund Freud.
